Welcome to my new life coaching training blog: 3 mph for 3 minutes
Twenty-five years ago my life coach training to myself went just like the line from “Top Gun”: “You’re not going to be happy unless you’re going Mach 2 with your hair on fire.” At times this was aspirational, and others I actually filled my life up this way.
My promise to you is to offer you 3 minutes of observations, wisdom, knowledge, and/or inspiration—that’s all that will be required to read my blog. And we will move at 3 mph not Mach 2 intentionally. Topics will include leadership ideas and tips, life hacks, employee and personal engagement, personal resilience, change management and others. Thus, the blog will be called 3 for 3 for Life.
Empowering leadership with the 3s?
Want more than 3 minutes? This won’t be the place. I know you are busy—I am too—and we need just 3 minutes midday, end of day, or early morning for rapid course corrections and most days we can only spare 3 minutes. Why 3 mph? you might ask. What happened to Mach 2 with your hair on fire? I have been told by a very reliable 8-year-old source that I have no hair, so perhaps it burned up in re-entry. Seriously, though, I have learned that one person made a giant impact on the world, and he never traveled faster than 3 mph.
A New Way to Tell Time
I am referring to Jesus, and I’m not going to debate this or start some rant; I’ll only suggest that all of human history is measured by our calendars in A.D. 2018. The Latin phrase “anno domini” stands for “the year of our lord” or “after death.” And Jesus always traveled at 3 mph. He also never had a smartphone to tell him where he was needed next. Time and time again he accomplished great things and delivered just what each person he encountered needed. He acted in love, always had time for “the other,” and never seemed to rush.
Do You Want to Change the World?
I want to change my time at work, at home, with my family, and in the world. I want to touch lepers. I want to honor women. I want to love deeply. I want to love “the others” of our world, and I want to change the world, so I will strive to move at 3 mph, a speed slower than I have ever done before. If you want to travel with me, keep reading.
Oh, by the way, if I ever hit the gas and go Mach 2, if I ever waste your 3 minutes, tell me or if you want to leave a comment, please do that too.
